American Airlines Will Let Passengers With Nut Allergies Board Early!

It looks like American Airlines is making flying a little easier for those who have nut allergies.

Starting on December 12th, American Airlines will allow those with nut allergies to board flights early.

This is so the passengers can have time to wipe down their seats in case of contamination from the previous passenger.

An airline spokesperson told PEOPLE, “Though we do not serve peanuts in flight, we can’t guarantee our customers won’t be exposed to peanuts or other tree nuts during their trip."

While passengers can ask to board early at the gate the airline does strongly encourage anyone with allergies to take all necessary medical precautions before flying.

Delta Airlines also allows people with nut allergies to board early.

You may be wondering why is American Airlines waiting until December 12th to put this policy into place?

Well they are waiting “because we need to communicate the update with team members across our system of 350+ airports and our crew members to make sure everyone understands and moves forward the same way.”

What do you think about this?
