In just about a month's time, Walt Disney World in Florida will begin the first phase of reopening its doors. Understandably, guests have a ton of questions about what a Disney vacation will look like in the middle of ongoing pandemic. For starters, there will be a ton of enhanced safety measures implemented in the parks, limited park and hotel reservations and more.
As the Disney parks prepare to reopen, some of the resort's hotels will also begin to get up and running again. Though the parks will be open again beginning in July, they won't be operating at full capacity. This means that only a few hotels will open with the theme parks. Disney shared that select Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts (view the full list here), as well as Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, will start opening on June 22.
Like the parks themselves, the resorts will also have enhanced safety measures. These new safety measures will include mandatory mask requirements for guests ages 2+, increased cleaning in high traffic areas and high-touch surfaces like check in desks and double cased pillows in the rooms. Many special programs that were previously offered at Disney resort hotels, such as culinary and art classes, will be suspended until further notice.
Disney also "highly recommends" that guests bring a form of cashless or contactless forms of payment, including MagicBands, which Disney Resort hotel Guests can use to charge purchases to their Disney Resort hotel folio. In addition to Magic Bands, Disney also urges guests to make sure they've downloaded the most up to date version of the My Disney Experience app with location and notification services enabled.
If you're traveling to Disney from the tri-state area, you must adhere to Florida's 14 day quarantine rule before you enter any of the hotels or parks. As of now, the mandatory quarantine for tourists from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut will be in place for the remained of June and early July. This could change ahead of Disney's reopening on July 15, however, guests from this area are advised to keep their eye on this.
