Hayley Williams Bares All In Solo Debut Video For 'Simmer'

The debut single from Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams has finally arrived.

After letting fans know at the end of last year that she'd be releasing music, William's first single, "Simmer,” was worth the wait!

Ahead of the release of the single, Williams teased fans for days with cryptic photos and videos. But the wait is over because on Wednesday (January 22), she not only dropped the song but the video as well.

“Simmer” is a haunting lead single that is worlds apart from what fans know from Paramore.

“Give in/ Control/ There’s so many ways to give in/ Eyes closed/ Another way to make it to ten/ Oh, how to draw the line between wrath and mercy?/ Gotta simmer, simmer, simmer, simmer, simmer down,” Williams sings in the chorus.

The 31-year-old also references the name of her solo album, Petals For Armor, on the bridge of “Simmer”: “Wrap yourself in petals/ Wrap yourself in petals/ Wrap yourself in petals for armor/ Petals for armor.”

As for the video, the 4:46 minute masterpiece is as equally haunting and amazing as the lyrics. Williams is seen running naked through a forest and into a creepy dark house (that gives me major vibes of the “Told You So” video house) and later smears rust-colored clay all over her body — with a surprise twist at the end.

Many fans believe the video is a symbolic representation of Williams leaving behind her former self and now, her new clay self, is ready to be shaped and molded into something new.

“Thank you for allowing me the chance to share this with you. Thanks to my bandmates and best friends for supporting me and encouraging me through the process. This is going to be different and so fun,” she wrote in an email to fans.

Petals For Armor will drop May 8, 2020!
